i was wondering how much u guys spent TOTAL on ur car system (includes labor, wires, etc) i spent 1500 bucks today on a complete system and im feeling a lil stumped. i got a jl w7, 2 jl amps, alpine deck, all USED parts, orion speakers and monstor cables and took it to the shop today and they charged me 300 bucks for labor. so total i spent is 1500.. i somehow felt like i got ripped off sumhow..

Nice!

When people sell stuff they always add money on top of what they would settle for.
I think they would've took a g.

I think you could've got the shop to lower their price for the install.

300 for installing a deck & running some wires is too much.

yeah i told them that but its like 75 bucks per amp and im running 2 of those plus deck install and speakers and blah blah.. but yeah i am happy with the results. even though my alpine is an old model, it still has lots of features and is the best deck i ever owned. the 10w7 hits extremely hard and definitely exceeded my expectations.. i cant wait untill tomorrow to drive 30 miles to work and bumpin hard with my new toy

but he said his equip was used so they would have charged him anyways. your best bet would have been to buy a few 24 packs of beer and invite your friends over one friday night.

It depends. He may have made the right decision. A bad install makes the best equipment on earth sound and last as long as the worst equipment on earth.

You might have got ripped off if any of that used equipment is bad.

hu $300
front components $300
2 channel amp $200
rear mids $100
good fuse holder and fuse $?
decent RCAs $30
amp power wire from the electronics store, not some over-priced kit $15

That's an estimate if I had paid retail. I paid about half for everything using my employee discount and employee auction. And I installed it myself seeing as I was a trained and certified professional (not anymore LOL).

It's not going to make loud booms but the sound is clean and accurate to a live performance. And doesn't weigh a ton or beg for someone to reach in and grab.

lol. If I had paid retail on most recent stereo system I would be at well over 3 grand without labor.

I think I'm in to it about 700 bucks, if that. lol.

i spent about $45 for my whole system. Labor was free since i did the installation. I have pioneer premiers 6 1/2 in the front and polk 6x9 in the rear. 12' rockford (old sub) with pioneer amp (old amp). pioneer deck and ipod tuner to go with it. I paid for only the tuner off ebay for 25 and paid 20 for the polk speakers. im currently trying to get an alpine deck so if anyone is interested in a pioneer deck (model 4800mp) and the ipod tuner to go with pm me.

I am an install manager for Tweeter in DE. I can tell you that the install is the foundation of your system. If you have great product and bad install it is like having an awesome house on a crappy foundation. You get the idea. Here is the normal prices of install at tweeter.
head 45 plus kits and harness
amp 3-4 80
amp 1-2 70
seps 80 pr
coaxs 40 pr

did you have to buy your wiring also?
if so,
4ga pwr 50ish
4channel rca 50
2 channel rca 25

there is a rough ball park

How's the saying go? It takes 10 minutes to learn to play Chess. It takes a lifetime to learn to play it right? Or something to that affect...

Brain surgery can't be all that hard either.

It's hard to remember how much I've spent total since I did it piece by piece over about three years, but I think so far I've spent about... $1300 total, if my memory isn't too fuzzy. All the installation was done either by myself or one of my buddies.

Alpine CDA7892 HU
Zapco AG360 4ch
Zapco AG1000 mono
2x Image Dynamics IDQ 12s
CDT EF-61FG 6.5" Components
Stinger Wiring

If i paid retail probably close to $4k?

I pieced it together over time for nowhere near that and did all the installation myself so that was only the cost of sound deadening, mdf, fiberglass, etc...sounds damn good in the lexus

IVA-W200 (DVD, Double-Din MM Head Unit) and XM Radio
Alpine Blackbird PMD-B100T Navigation (docked under pass seat)
PXA-H701 (5.1Ch Audio Processor, connected via TosLink)
Focal 165W 6.5" Woofers
Focal TN52 Tweeters
JL Audio 300x4 (Special Black Edition)

Viper 791XV

Total is roughly 2k for that with wires. I am a former installer, so all the work is done by me anyways.

I'm going to pick-up another 300x4 and probably a W3 10" next, then maybe a set of Focal 165-KBE's for the rear deck (rear fill).

Achieving good sounding music in your car expensive.

Thats pretty cheap for a system Heres what I spent on my last system

2 Rockford fosgates p3 12"-500 each with warrenties

1-JL 1000 700 plus 100 for warrenty

1- custom unported box -300 bucks

1- 1.5 fraud capacitor 100 bucks(cheaped out on that one)

1- 2 gauge monster wire kit- 70 bucks

all new rockford speakers- 4 total 400 bucks plus warrenty

So about 2600 bucks

Watching someone steal that car while getting coffee at WAWA. Priceless

I now have a DVD player too and I dont quite understand what the 5.1 dolby digital surround decoder is for? It's extra and I watch movies it seems like everything is surround sound, I know it might sound like a dumb dumb question but what is its purpose..
