throttle body purge port problems
hey i just changed my throttle body on my 97 prelude 5 speed, just because i had a bad TP sensor on my other one. this throttle body with the TP senor works great but after driving awhile my check engine light came on and the code is P1459... which is the EVAP system. now i did some research and i think it might be the purge port on the throttle body because i never had this problem before until i changed the throttle body. Is the purge port not working right on this throttle body and is that even possible? please if anyone knows. thanks
If you put all the vacuum lines back where they go you shouldn't have a CEL... You might have swapped a couple lines or something.
i checked all of the vaccuum lines and they seem to be in the right places and i didn't really touch any of them except like the ones that i need to remove when i take out the intake (i got a aem v2) i reseted the ecu to see if it was a error or something and the light came off. i drove the car fully for an entire day and it didn't come on till when i went home and i was reversing and going into first gear alot to park and then the light came back on.
well, you might check the charcoal canister and the EVEP solenoids and make sure the hoses are on there good and that the connectors aren't broken or unplugged or anything...
ok i'll check thoses things but you dont think its just the throttle body's purge port? cuz i was gonna switch out my good throttle body that i have and use the good tp sensor on this one. let me know and thanks i will check out the evap soleniods and canister.

By 'purge port' you just mean the nipple for the vacuum line right? I can't see how it would be clogged on a new throttle body....

yea the nipple on the throttle body where the purge line connects to.. well its not a new throttle body, its a used one. and if it is clogged can i simply just clean it and do you think it will work fine. thanks

Sure, clean it out and make sure it has good flow. Can't hurt....

I don't mess with obd2 much, but I'd suspect a vacuum line or electrical connector to the purge solenoid instead of the actual purge line or canister.
i know that those things should be the first that i should check one but i just found it so weird that this happened as soon as i switched out my throttle body and i threw on a used one. but thanks i am gonna try and check everything out.
