REVO short shifter, actually shorter?
Just picked one up. Does it actually lower the height of the shifter, or just reduce the throw?
I ask because I've seen people with really low shifters, and always thought they were running the REVO SS.
But I saw a side-by-side comparison and it doesn't look much shorter..

I don't understand why you still have a question when you seen the side-by-side. Short throw shifters main purpose is to reduce throw. If the shifter is still higher up, good.

So what are all these guys doing to get their ***** to swim inside the boot? lol

Okay so here is the new question, just to clarify my train of thought:
If the REVO SS is not height-adjustable, then what product actually does lower the height of the shifter?
When I said the "**** swimming in the boot" I meant the boot sometimes looks like it's about to swallow the ****.
However figurative that sounds.

Sorry but you are a RICER! Having the shifter that low is actually making it harder to shift. Yes a shorter throw is better but you need to understand the math/physics of it. The higher/heavier the **** is, the more it is helping you get into gear. Get past the looks of it and think about what will serve you the best. If you look at the Buddy Club DC5 race car, the shifter is nearly as tall as the dash board! I think they would know what works the best.

I think you are 1/2 way there on this one bud. And this is what I DIDN'T want this thread to turn into, because there are already gazillions of threads on how short shifters "work".
Short shifter is actually supposed to make it "easier" for you to shift, because it reduces the distance traveled in between gears. It really has nothing to do with the weight of the shift ****, because if it did, REVO or Buddy Club would include the shiftknob with the shifter assembly. If you want to argue that claim, you'd have to take into the consideration of the "weight" of your individual arm or perhaps strength, considering your arm is pulling or pushing the shifter through the gears.

Now I'm not saying Buddy Club is a company of hypocrites, but I'm pretty sure despite the taller shifter in their car, they also manufacture a short shifter.

Ok fine let me rephrase, Since you define a short shifter makes it "easier" to shift, then you are wrong to say that a heavier shift doesn't make it "easier" to shift. A shifter is in essence a lever and the more weight at the end of the lever, the easier it is to work the lever. Furthermore, with a lower shifter height, the actual time it takes to take your hand off the wheel, reach for the shifter, shift, and put your hand back on the shifter is longer than if you hand a shifter with a higher height. My opinion is that a tall shifter, short throw and heavy **** is the best combination for shifting.

Haven't gotten around to installing it. Probably within the week.
I was really looking for something to lower the height of the ****, but I guess that made me a ricer.
For some reason, I find taller shifters hideous.
I know there was another member either on here or CRSX that actually die-ground his shifter lever down a few inches and tacked it back on. Looked cool, but too much work IMO.

this may sound like a crazy idea but if you really wanna do this, maybe you can go to a machine shop of some sort and have the cut of like .5-1.0" inches off of the shifter itself...I've never seen it done or heard of it but if you're really that oncerned about it, then there's an diea...hell, lmk if it works cause I'm with you on the height of the shifters, they tottally suck...
How can you not have heard about people cutting their shifters? I've probably had to explain that their hackjob shifter is not a short throw to 3 or 4 locals in a year. They always call me a hater. But hey, I am.
