Clunking from passenger side front suspension..need ideas
Like the title says..After installing my front coilover setup roughly 2 months ago, the passenger side has a clunking noise over bumps mainly. It doesnt bother me much but i know something will eventually go wrong.
The shocks and springs are good, have both brand new axles installed also so take that out of the picture. Car has 113k miles on it
The ONLY thing i can think of is that the shock and coil on that side doesnt have a rubber mount or rest between the top coil and the top of the shock, possibly creating a metal on metal clunk. Maybe balljoints starting to get loose i dont know really, I'm just praying my right shock doesn't blow through the shock mount one day while going down the highway or something because i drive alot.
Any other ideas would be helpful.
thanks for any input.

Hmm i don't think you are missing the rubber piece because I'm missing one too in the front and i don't hear anything. Plus as long as there is weight on the spring its not gonna bounce around. Do you have the metal washers that go between the top nut and the bushing in the engine bay?
Check your upper control arm bushings. Do you have an adjustable camber kit? If so I would be willing to bet that it is either loose or is going to get loose. Jack up the front of the car and wiggle the wheel, the top (upper control arm) will probably wiggle, if so look at the upper ball joint and then look at where the arm is connected to the body, it is probably where you will find your problem.
kellogg the washer is there i inspected it all before hand.
Johnsc i think that could be it, it sounds right and the bushings/controlarms have most likely never been replaced along with everything else on my car lol. Now all i need is a jack

It's been a long time since I did mine but bump stops maybe? I work on so many cars that I can't remember if tegs have them. My buddies turd neon had the same problem and it was because the bump stop rotted out. It ruined the shock on that side too.
