Default Lower control arm issues.

Hi,

Last year i had a bit of an accident and hit a curb doing about 40mph. I noticed that my tracking was out, and had expected this, So i went and got it sorted right away.

I took it back to the pirates at the dealership and they had a look at it and sorted the tracking for me.

After this i still noticed my car pulling to the left ever so slightly, so i took it back to Honda, and they had another look at it and said there wasn't any problems and the pulling was due to the camper of the wheels.

Today almost a year later and 12,000 miles on, I had to change my tyre as I got a flatty. Just out of curiosity I was just looking around to see if there was anything odd.

Here's what I found (left arch):

I can't believe the fools at Honda didn't notice this, its a complete joke! I've been lucky so far. This could have snapped and caused a serious accident say if i was on the motorway!!!!

Does anybody know the approx price to get this sorted, as i haven't got a clue

One more thing i noticed today, on the right side (driverside, UK) I'm not sure what its called but the nut the holds the fixing in the photo below, is it supposed to be straight? and why is it bent?

Poor picture but you can clearly see that it isn't straight.

Thanks in advance all!!

Tom

The LCAs are about $105 here in the US. I dont know what they cost in england. The problem with blaming honda is that its a stamped and welded part, it looks like its coming apart at the seam. It may not have showed up immediately.

The tie rod is fine, its because the suspension is completely extended and so is the tie rod. Put it down and it'll sit fine.

Thanks for your reply.
Just took a quick look at the "tie rod" its still sitting at an angle when the car is on its wheels, whereas the other side it sits flat.

its on a ball joint, it really doesnt matter what angle it sits at. Turn the arm flat if it really bothers you.

Hey Tom, boiler is right about the track rod end, it's a ball joint designed to be able to move like that.

As for pricing to do the job, you're best off getting a couple of quotes. Get one from the Honda dealer (although it will be extortionate) and a couple of independants. Or you could always buy the parts and have a go yourself, it isn't too hard to do.

You also have a PM mate.
