Like topic states. d16z6, si cable trans. car goes into gear when vehicle is off. if i start the car in gear and release the clutch it moves. if i go to put the car in gear while the car is running, reverse grinds, and it wont go into any gear. really tired of [freak]ing with this thing.

has it always done that??
it sounds like several different things, not exactly sure.
possibly the biggest thing is the clutch.
gears might also be grinding.

I just purchased the vehicle it had everything in it, but would not run due to the wiring. I finished up the wiring, got everything to run properly with no cel's, and now i discover it wont go into gear. I think the prior owner (dumbass btw) left the clutch flywheel and PP from the z6 in there. Any chance this would cause that?

I adjusted the hell out of the cable, that all functions right, the linkage is good as i can move it freely between gears when the car is off.

still doesnt work??? maybe the throwout bearing or clutch as the dude said? did you loosen the clutch cable hella ??? cause i had to loosen mines alot when i change my clutch and flywheel last time
Definately worn clutch, when the throwout bearing wears a deep groove into the pressure plate it no longer have enough throw to disengage.... Constant traction of the clutch, constant spining of your tranny internals= not being able to shift. I've run into this on a few high mileage m/t honda's. New clutch plus throwout bearing should fix this for sure given what you've told us

working on that now! I actually drove it from my small garage, to the larger garage where the cobra and saleen sleep so I could get it up in the air and have more room.
