skunk2 stage 2 cam problemhelp asap
Well I just put skunk2 stage 2 cams in my gsr with stock vavletrain now the motor is in timing. The problem is that when I hit vtec the car feels like its lagging power so then I asked skunk2 and they said that it could be a air restring problem so I bought a skunk2 intake manifold and it got better but I still feel some lag when vtec hits some ppl tell me that the motor needs more compression some tell me I need vavles and springs. So can anyone help me plz
What are all your mods? Make sure your timing is correct and that the valve spec are at stock. I had the same problem in my old car, intake, header,Sk2Stg2's,chipped ecu. It was the distributer was going out. More Cr would be nice, but the car should run fine as is.
I know sk2 recommends the upgrade of the springs and retainers when going to the stage 2's........ I would be careful you dont valve float or break a spring......
[QUOTE=efking1985]Well my dizzy is brand new so I don't think that's the problem[/QUOTE I could go on and on about what it could be, you are just going to have to search and go through each possible symptom and diagnosis. You will find it, good luck.

1) Have you had any problems before putting the cams in?
2) Can you list your entire setup?
3) Have you ever had your motor tuned?

Never had this problem before the cams the motor ran strong.
The motor is the only thing it has is cams and intake manifold.
The car has not been tuned yet.
Help me plz

I would suggest doing either
1) Selling/trading the cams for Stage 1s because that way you can still barely manage to run stock valvetrain (still risky, but not as bad as stg2s) and will make prob the same amount of power, then getting the car tuned by someone. But might still "feel" good without a tune.
2) If you want to keep them, buy an aftermarket valvetrain (I've had good experiences with Supertech VS/retainers), and either mill the head like .020 or get pistons with more compression (ex: ITR) adjust the valves, then get it tuned. The Stage2s need a good amount of compression to make power. I made 174whp/114tq with mine on a B16

Ok so I'm going to buy vavletrain and itr pistons and headers and get tuned and that should fix it becuz I can feel the car pull back when vtec hits
Well, before you do anything, I'd try to put the stock cams back in and see if its ok again. Because if the problem is still there, then its not a cam problem.
