Default 1992 Prelude (automatic) torque converter not locking up, Help

Anyone with ideas on what to replace first? SI,AWS is a great car but wont shift into overdrive. No dummy lights, codes, ECT. Shifts fine 1 through 4 but wont lock up (3500RPM @ 70MPH). Please help.

i'm assuming this is a manual because you didn't say and auto's only have 4 gears. So it's not going into 5th at all? does it grind? Does it go into gear while the car is off?

Its an automatic. Removed both sets of solonoids they work. Flushed the trans filled w/synthetic. Torque converter still not locking up.

your speed @ RPM there is correct.
when im in 5th gear (manual trans) im doing 80 at 4k RPM.
this is normal for our cars and connot be changed.

lol honestly i dont know.
i live in in the city so theres not much space to do such things.
if i have gotten to 6k in fifth, it has probably only been a few times and honestly i cant tell u what the speed is. i would guess its around 110?

Thx Bertman, I am told that the converter will "lock up" at freeway speeds, I don’t feel this. I just think the R's are high for the speed, but am comparing it to American made. Only 2 things I'm concerned with, reliability and fuel consumption, I hit I-5 Mon through Fri and it sits on the weekends. If I slow to around 3K RPM fuel mileage will improve by 5/6 MPG.

Not experienced enough with Hondas, yet, to know what’s right or not. It’s a great car, fun to drive and still looks good. Hate to get rid of it, will make a great car for my daughter, only 2 people really fit.

well i get better gas mileage on the highway keeping my car between 3k-4k RPM... on a full tank i can get 380 all highway miles.... id says thats damn good for old cars like ours. so keeping you car at those RPMs going at those speeds doesnt effect your gas mileage!

well it could be because we probably have diff motors...
i have an h22 u probably have an h23.
theres a lot of different variables... like how many miles your car has and how well it was maintained. a full tune up should up your gas mileage too.
and make sure you use 93 octane gas! (or if you must... i think u can use 91 too)
