just started noticing the faster/fastest cars usally chop top (ya like in the traditional rat rod sense) their drag cras............

anybody here ever think about it/do it?

im JUST getting into on track drag racing...........any problems encountered if you have done it or any one estimate potential problems?

here is signal autos (very old school photos) of their chop-topped drag car.

ya i know it looks like junk, with the exhuast, lifted rear end, stickers and ornage paint wide front end................ but with out all that junk and a flat black primer job it'll look pretty sick would'nt it?

here is how i BELIVE the best way to do it is (feel free to critique) :

weld angle iron across the car pretty much everywere to brace it, chop maybe 4 inches, off the a b and c pillars, re weld, remove angle iron..............as for glass everywhere.........just lexan will do it.

maybe like a rat rod civic LOL

maybe a new street project = chop top EK/eg hatch, with an b20 vtec and TODA vtec killers, primer black and stripped interior. or ????

 

Jason Lopes' 99-00 SI All Motor SI had a chop top...I believe it is no longer allowed in the rules (chop tops)

 

yeah, i thought last year was the last year they were still allowed. I believed they phased all of them out

 

I just looked at the rules. In Pro FWD you can but Hot Rod you cant. I thought they phased it out also.

 

definately cant chop the top now, all the others were grandfathered in.

Jay Yuson's CRX was chop topped also back in the mid/late 90s.

I personally dont care for it.

 

If I remember correctly, Skunk's RSX is chopped some. they did it right before the rules came out to make it illegal. I may be wrong.

they are illegal for pro cars. this is why im having trouble selling my car. skunks car was chop too.

 

and cant do it when your 6'5'' either, sucks
