Was it ACT everytime? I had all kinds of problems with ACT in the past. Mine blew out within 2 weeks. When they pulled it, the teeth on the on the pressure plate were bent, friction material from from the disk was completely striped leaving completely bare metal. Honda said that it looked like a badly refurbished stock OEM disk. I emailed Dirk at ACT and he completely denied that it was a product defect.
I totally ranted about it over the net until Dirk said that he would replace it for free, but he never did. I got an OS Giken Super Single after that and its been smooth sailing after that.
ACT is crap dude. Some people have had success with them, but I would never trust them after that. POS left me stranded and I had to walk home!
EDIT: Dude , don't give up on the R because of a bad clutch...just invest in a good quality one and break it properly. You won't go wrong after that

Yeah, I had a basic ACT Stage 1 clutch on my ITR for about two years likewise, and it has endured a lot of abuse from an engine making over 200 WHP, later on I removed it because I was building another engine and sold my current setup. I sold the used clutch/pressure plate separately and the new owner is still happy with it. But there are a lot of recent reports of ACT clutches having defects and prematurely breaking. I guess their quality has gone down in the last year or so.

Act's lack in quality is not a recent issue. My whole fiasco happened in 2002. I started a thread back then about problemed Act clutches and about 20 others complained about having the same issue (premature failure) . Back then, he owner, Dirk (aka ActMan) was an active member here, and repetitively denied defects despite 20+ members complaining about problems. He eventually emailed me, and offered to replace my clutch for free if I could prove that that I had destroyed my clutch and rendered it unusebale and send him pictures AND agree to not disclose any more details about the failure online..which I agreed to and did. Basically the damage was so extensive that it took very little to make it useless because it already was.
I sent him the pics and even posted them here and he never got back to me. So I am speaking out about it. Probably the really expensive non-streetable racing models were okay, but most of the streetable models had some kind of defect which lead to failure in a short amount of time. I kept the cover and warped pressure plate for while and I think I still have it in the garage somewhere. If I can find it, I will try to post pics this weekend.

it might be good....but damn it's slow and boring in terms of engagement...
I'm with MiraiZ though - OS Giken makes some really good stuff, I also like the Exedy 3 puck but I'm waving the ATS/carbonetic flag myself. The carbon clutches are every bit as good as they advertise from my experience.
FWIW, I've had pretty good luck with ACT in the past and so have my friends. Hell I even think centerforce is good. We've had it on a 300whp boosted car, a 220whp NA car, the stock car. It never slipped, had a nice light pedal and the pressure plate was a pretty orange color

try Action Clutch 6 puck unsprung with dual diaphragm PP. should handle 350wtq or whatever you're making with your hi-comp/nos setup.
from the start i'd heard enough to skip ACT, but part of your problem might be the neck-snapping response i'd expect from your ~150-200 direct shot. turbo/blown tq doesn't typically hit as hard/fast as does a big direct shot, and if you're getting any traction, something has to give, be it gears, axles/cv joints, or clutch.

Ive had an ACT Xtreme with 6 puck sprung disk for almost two years now and well over 400whp. and trust me I beat the crap out of it and havent had any clutch issues other than it getting hot when trying to slip it during normal driving.
why the hell do you keep getting unsprung disks? you should have ZERO problems and plent of clutch if you use an ACT HD plate with 6 puck sprung disk. and stop launching on the bottle lol

If you have gone through so many clutches, is there an issue that it could be install error?
I might have an old itr clutch laying around if you need something to run the car with. Let me know and I can check in my pile of old parts.

I've had the ACT HDSS for about 40,000 miles on a 200+ whp R, beating the crap out of it almost on a daily basis, 9k + rpm shifts on a daily basis and often....still was holding strong upon removal for the new motor build. I have read a lot recently though that ACT is getting a bad name. I am starting to wonder if its the clutch or the people installing them improperly.
I just got my Competition stage 5 with the upgraded pressure plate so I guess we will see how this one goes. I have seen great reviews on it.

I ran a comp stage 5 in my boosted LS/VTEC for 3 years. Never had a problem one. Daily drove it on occasion, and even ripped off a few 11 second quarters, then drove it home. Never slipped, just broke axles.
Comp Clutch is what I'll always stick with now.
(of course with the stage 5, you'll feel your calf muscle start to.... enlarge... after a while. LOL)
