Help with My 2004 d17a2 turbo
Was up everyone!!!! I have just joined the site and love all the feed back, so I wanted to see what you guys might think.
1st- I have a 2004 civic ex (d17a2) with the nighthawk pearl black paint and I have almost all of the parts to start the build, but I have a couple of questions and know you guys got the answers. I have done a whole lot of research and have hopefully found the best items. Let me know what you think!!!!!
t3/t4 turbo
OBX Racing Turbo Manifold
38mm wastegate
Greddy type rs BOV
Universal Black intercooler piping
FMIC intercooler
Treadstone Pro oil line kit w/ all couples and extra clamps
2.5" downpipe ( will be welded once start build)
Apexi Neo piggyback system
ACT Flywheel
Exedy 8lb stage 1 clutch
My main question is were does the oil feed hook up to? My research has shown that its the oil sending unit under the intake manifold and above the oil filter, but I have yet to see any pictures showing this. Also, just wondering any problems that people have come across so I can be prepared.
Thanks

I'm no expert in forced induction, but I can tell you right now you'll benefit from a better management system.
And for the love of God ditch that OBX turbo manifold. Not only will it not be durable, there's probably been zero benchflow testing done on it, so your peak power may be hurt.

I agree with the piggyback. With that I had bought it a couple of months ago and had it installed, than I got a large tax refund and decided to turbo the d17. Since this engine is SOOOO slow from the start, I wasn't looking to get more than 180 whp out of it for right now. But with the manifold, I figured that OBX is a good company that they would not sell a bad product and thought it would be tested. If what you say is true than I guess I will find out, because I will be installing this kit in the next couple of days and will only be running 3psi until I get new injectors and a new fuel system. What do you think is the size injectors I should use for about 6 psi?

Think that while you walk down the highway to pick up the wastegate and/or turbo because the welds cracked.
Have fun with all that.... ebay boost gives you nothing but headaches.

you cant run lower than what your wastegate spring is set to, so unless your running a .2bar spring on the WG, youd have to run whatever bar its set to

Nope. K-pro also works for the D17, and even S2000's F20.

AEM F/IC is a great piggy back if you dont want to shell out the 2k for EMS or K-pro. Stock d17 injectors are absolutely maxed at MAYBE 2 psi on a t3/4. Assuming they are running at optimum performance, no clogs etc. OBX blows... dezod.com makes a high quality kit and stands by their stuff.

Of course, dezod.com distributes good products. They're LoveFAB products.
PS. K-Pro is only $1,000.

Does anyone have a picture of the oil sending unit. I am tring to complete the turbo kit but I know where it is ( above oil filter but below the manifold) but not what it looks like. Please post any pictures or help you might have for me.
So after 4 LONG days and about $300 extra I got the kit on the car. I am about to go and get the RSX type S injectors from dezod since they are in buffalo and I live in Buffalo. Thanks everyone for all the help and with your feedback I am going to take off the OBX Manifold in the next couple of weeks and get the V1 from dezod maybe even have them install it for me.
THanks again everyone for all the help!!!!!!
THanks again everyone for all the help!!!!!!
I have tapped the oil pan and it is running ok right now..I need to get the injectors and my buddy has the str-4 stock injectors which im going to use...All I will need is the clips from dezod and tuning that is it. But YES the oil pan is tapped and is working great with the t3/t4 it is draining just fine!!!! I also took out the a/c and put on a new belt. The belt that napa gave me is not the correct size it is a little too big, so it is making noise but that should be an easy fix. Cant wait to finally have the car done and running full boost!!!!
I guess i was one of the few whos had a good experience with the OBX manifold. . Ive ran my car for othe a year with no problems to the manifold. . The highest ive boosted with that manifold was 16 lbs. And when i replaced it, there were no signs of cracking or warping. . . I guess the one i got was just good. . . Ha. .

people say teh newer OBX manifolds are better then the old ones but the real problem is they are made from trash metal. so sometimes its halfway decent material adn othertimes its absolute crap. you just never know

Ya I did sorry bro. Anyways..The car is running but not perfect right now. I am unable to go over 4000 rpm's until I get these Srt-4 injectors in.. I think it is really stupid that honda puts such small injectors in the first place. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS 210 cc injectors good for???? NOTHING!!!!!
Cant wait to finally be able to boosted. Just one thing to remember. When you think you have planned the turbo kit out fully, there is always something that comes along and makes you change the original plan. Bottom line is you need to be flexable VERY flexable..

ok set up ...first need to change out the exhaust manifold.. obx will crack on u within about 9 months i advised u with some cast iron type they hold up very well..plus u can find some that allows u to keep you a/c unit...second, think about going w/ a smaller turbo like a t28 or t25...less lag will boost around 2500 rpm...im running about 6lb of boost i have no problem smokn' fools
with a t25 with my ac on!!!!!!!!!! third go with a stage 2 or 3 clutch age 1 will not last especially if your running a t3 or t4 turbo big turbo have alot of torque...but it all how u want it ...everyday driving with power or racing mode all the time ...good luck!!!!!!
