Powdercoating
my friend used car paint on his stock si rims with only sanding with 320 about 3 coats of paint and 2 of clear and came out beautiful...much cheaper than powder coating and the quality is excellent...on top of that there are way more color choices so you can achieve any color you are looking for...don't have any pics but if you would like to see let me know
I have not done rims, but had a OEM valve cover powder coated in DJM Red. I used Andrews Powder Coating in California. I do not know enough about powder coating to do it myself. Andrews charges a one time set-up fee of $125.00. If you need any masking done, it will cost a little more. Their work is awesome and the valve cover came out perfect. I just need to install it with the Carbon Fiber spark plug cover and add the badging.
If you are looking to have a professional do them, I suggest you find someone local to avoid the shipping costs. To ship 4 rims would run you $80.00 each direction. Anyway, to cost to powder coat, even after shipping, would still cost less then a new set of decent rims.
