The swap itself won't even get you a test if you don't obtain a BAR label from the referee. Unless you have a smog hookup that will overlook visual you will need this label for you to go to any smog station. Having said that, your wiring should not be hacked. The swap itself should look clean and have all the correct components per your engine.

Your car, in its current state, will not pass the visual smog test unless you have a hook-up. If you are going to the ref, make sure you have a manual intake manifold on your motor and not an automatic intake manifold with the EGR sticking off of it. The ref will throw a fit about that. Secondly, make sure all solenoids and vacuum lines are hooked-up as they should be. It took me a few trips to the ref to BAR my old B18a1.
So 2 anser ur questun, n0 you cantz pass smg like dat.

If you have aftermarket cam gears you'll want to have that cover on to cover them up. You should run a timing belt cover either way.

i just passed bar with a 1995 ls motor in my 89. its pretty straight forward deal. have correct wiring, ecu, intake box, header, cat, pcv, o2, correct timing, and be prepared to pass a evap test. then a sniffer test
also since your in SD go to Southwestern College and see mike. Really nice guy who is super knowledgeable. It was funny he even identified my etd traction bar and how he liked it .
