Default z6 build

i have a stock z6 in my 92 hatch. with a leighweight flywheel and exhaust ,intake. im wanting to go boost but not sure what turbo and how much to push or would i be happier with a cam and valve upgrade on a stock bottom end.

depends on your horsepower goals - a turbo setup on stock internals can land you around 220-240whp. with the money you spend upgrading the vavletrain..you'll wish you saved for a turbo setup or a swap.

Like said, depends on your power goals. It is fairly cheap to rebuild that old engine and boost it. That's what I would suggest, it also largely depends on your budget.

If you want any details or prices for rebuilding your motor let me know. I am going through said process right now on my D... (see sig).

what kind of rebuild should i go for it would be hard to do seein how its my onlt dd for now. the motor doesnt burn at all or leak .

Well, you have lots of options just depends on how fast (ie: money you want to spend) you want to go.

If you just want a little more power, use your stock motor and piece together or buy an inexpensive turbo kit. You could probably get away with 6-8psi safely for quite a while, but not sure that will get you over 200whp. At any rate you should still be able to hang with or beat n/a b16/18's but not likely turbo charged ones.

If you want to rebuild you're looking at some down time. For a DD it's probably not ideal unless you build a motor on the side (that's what I'm doing).

ive heard that the z6 is the smartest d to boost. and it can handle 6-8 on stock internals. i would run 6 all day and be happy for now till i can build a bottom end for more. a buddy ran 8 on a 220k on it im not sure if it was a b7 or a shitty 8vlave but he ended uo blowing it in two days and on that and he was untuned as well. although he was runnina greddy emanage. im just trying to figure ou which route to go

b7? I am not sure...that is a d15 isn't it? I'd imagine you'd have to get a lot of new parts as the z6 parts might not be interchangable with the d15 (tranny, head, starter, alt, etc...)

Cam and valve upgrade on your stock bottom end blows turbo out of the water

its the d15b7 out of a civic dx. the z6 parts are interchangable with it... its ob1 d series

as far as your build, the cheap way to build a bottom end is with vitara pistons (theyre 75.5mm bore and will lower your compression ratio), some h beam rods (tunertoy are cheap, eagle are good but more expensive), and acl bearings with it, then top it off with arp head studs and you're set.
