i have a 94 honda prelude vtec model that i recently swapped a jdm h22a into because of a knocking rod in the h22a1. since the swap i have had a cel 43 and experienced bogging down in low rpms. also i've noticed my tach is off. it seems as if it will sometime just constantly read 1k more than it should, and at 60mph it will vary from 3300 up to 4000. also it only throws the cel 43 when i go above 60 mph for about five minutes. just wondering if the code and the tach could be related. i know the tach reading comes from the blue wire in the dizzy. could this be misfiring causing the cel 43 and the inconsistent tach readings? thanks

 

o2 sensor probably. First try to put some injector cleaner into the gas tank and give it a really good ride.

Of course I can't exclude the malfunctioning dizzy though.

 

I am having the same problem. I have cel 43 the jumpy tach my engine bogs out around the high rpm (like its misfiring) and i believe that im running rich because of the black soot around the exhaust pipe. oh yea i have a 1993 honda prelude si H23 na vtec

If anyone has any soulutions to this please help.

 

Code 43 is the bitch code. Have fun hunting that one down, it could be one of many things.

The jumpy tach is odd, though.
