Default Help me pass emissions guys. I need suggestions

Setup is

94 VX OBD1
Poorman's R GSR block, ITR pistons, B16 head
All bolt ons (header, 2.5" exhaust, intake, IM)
B&M FPR
some aftermarket cat (yes its real not that test pipe bullshit)
Precision 310ccs
tuned on crome over a year ago
MSD 6AL

I'm not positive if I can pass the way it is right now. I know this sounds stupid of me but are there any other things I can do like mess with the timing temporarily or running higher octane to help me pass?

Tune the car down to a nice 14.7 a/f for cruising and youll be set to pass a sniffer.

What state is this for?

I had it tuned a year ago on a dyno and haven't touched it really since. I'm actually planning on tuning again this saturday, but my inspection right now is expired so i'm really trying to get this done asap

this is in New Jersey

What does your emissions consist of? Do they put you on a sniffer any or is it all visual and make sure everything works and safty is up to par or how does it work?

Pretty sure its not as crazy as CA.

Just goes on the dyno with a sniffer till like 15mph or 25 or w/e.

Like the place I'm going to (shop/gas station) shouldn't give me a hard time, but as far as emissions, they might not look the other way, so thats like all I need to pass really.

I think you should pass. I went with my friend to DMV to get his Eclipse inspected, he has a bigger turbo, FMIC, non recirculated BOV all that stuff, and passed with flying colors.

depending on how they do the test.

Unless Crome has done some sneaky addition as far as tip-out (they haven't as of 1.4.9)

The issueis, every time you shift, when you let off the throttle the A/F spikes rich for less than a second. Not a problem if they test steady state only, at one solid speed and don't read the ramp up. But in IL they used to test from a standing start to 35 or 45mph (I don't remember which)
they averaged the readings through out the accel cycle...
In mine the rich spikes were too much for the rest of the super clean readings and it failed.
I dropped in a stock P72, it read lean at times and ran like crap but it passed with flying colors.

IL dropped it to an idle only test, I squeaked by on that with no cat.
And now there are no emissions for OBD1 vehicles.

BTW, eCtune does not have this problem.

If its anything like they do here in MD you'll be good just make sure you car is nice and low. They wont even be able to get it on the rollers to do a test.
