I think its the distributor but im not 100% sure. the car starts and idles but sounds like its missing. i can move the distributor back and fourth while the car is running and nothing happens it still sounds the same. so before i buy a new distributor for nothing please help!

SEEEEEEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is most likely your distributor, but always check your wiring to make sure it is broken or anything.

Also do you really need to bump in three hours?

k so... i went over all my wiring and found 2 wires not connected to anything. they are the orange and white ones coming from the dash harness that need to be hookep up to the ecu. i connected the 2 where they are supposed to go (b10, b12) the code 4 went away but the car is still missing. i can move the dizzy around up and down while the car is running and nothing changes in the way the motor runs. thats not good right haha please someone help! and dont tell me to search cuase i have searched and followed as many directions as i could....

If there aren't any other codes, check that your spark plugs are firing properly, your ignition timing is on, your rotor button isn't corroded, and possibly do a compression test.

k a buddy just told me that it could be a head gasket... does that make sense? ive taken the dizzy cap off and checked over everything. i dont wanna have to buy new dizzy if a dont need to. also what should the compression be on a b16a?

Could be, that's why I mentioned doing a compression test.

Compression should be around 210 psi, although it could be different depending on the tester you're using. You're mainly looking for the difference in number between the cylinders.

k got ya! ill do a compression check and see whats up. if the numbers are way off on a cylinder does that mean a bad head gasket or could that mean worse?

Usually. It could also be valve seating / seal issues. Get some numbers and post them up.

Well, the iac shouldn't be causing a misfire, but you should clear the code out anyways, it'll make your car idle like crap.

If your compression #s are consistent across the board, I'd be willing to bet it's the dist. then. Do you have a backup you can try?

no luck yet... i replaced the dizzy with a modded ls one and the car runs better now and the timing is effected when i move the dizzy back and forth but i dont know for sure if the dizzy i got is gonna cut it. all i figured out with it was that the old dizzy was bad. i havent tried timing it yet but im about to do that tomorrow. does anyone know the timing specs for a b16a?
