timming belt rubbing/coming off?

Default timming belt rubbing/coming off?

i recentally installed some skunk2 cams into my car along w adj cam gears. a 93 vtec

i have removed the b/s and im still running the auto tenshioner
i am also running a vibrant manual tenshioner... it mounts where the power steering used to be!


the problem is when i start the car very slowly the timming belt walks it's self about 3/16 of an inch off the cam gear it actually barely rubs the timming cover and the valve cover!!!!!!!

it hasnt fallen off but i dont want to drive it like this?
it seems tight for sure!

why is it doing this

all i have done is let the car idle and rev it up just a bit!

Well fist make sure all the stock equipment (tensioner, timing gears and pullies are installed correct with the correct washers.

Next I would try taking off the vibrant tensioner and see if the belt still tries to move to the front of the cam gears. Just as a diagnostic procedure.

If the doesn't work next thing to try is stock cam gears.

be sure that the tensioner is flush. If its ****-eyed, it will push the belt off

the tenshioner is flush yes
i can seem too remember how many washers are needed

i have removed the vibrant tenshioner and it looser but it still wasnt to work its way off the cam gears

also
the crank pulley bolt is not torqued down all the way!

could that be causing the belt too comeoff the cam gears

Yyyeeeeaaahhhh....why would you start the engine with that bolt loose? The timing gear on the crank could easily have moved out a bit and caused the TB to also move.

Even though you arent running the balance shaft belt, do you still have the balance shaft pulley on the crank pulley? If not it will allow the belt to walk out as you describe, since that pulley holds the belt in its proper position.

also the bolt isnt loose, it just isnt as tight as i know it needs too be
like (98ftlbs), it is proball at like 25ftlbs not tight enough but is that causeing the belt too want too walk its self off?

You left the BS pulley off

All that stuff has to be on there in the right order or all the TB gears won't line up.

Put you balance shaft pulley back on! Nothing is holding your timing belt drive pulley! it can and will walk up to an inch towards the crank pulley...
