Problem starting my 88 CRX Si...
I've been searching the forum all weekend trying to find a similar situation that I'm having when I try to start my CRX, but it seems that everyone is having different issues. When I get in to start my car, it just turns over and over and doesnt start. I have to do this about 3-5 times, then finally the car will fire up but idle really rough at 850 for about 2-3 minutes then when it warms up it idles smooth at 1000. I can run the car for a while then make a few stops and it starts back up the first try every time. Just when the car sits for a long period of time it will not start until after a few tries. Anyone ever have a similar problem or possibly point me in the right direction to correct this.
well first your car should be idling at around 750+ or - a few. check timing for your idle, and i would guess your injectors are leaking residual fuel into the cylinders once you stop. my buddy had the same problems with his rx7, wouldnt start in the morning. maybe check your plugs too
Tried to work on this all evening. Its impossible to even see the marks on the pulley to adjust the timing. My guess is theyve worn away over the years. Any suggestions on how to do this with the marks being gone. Does anyone have a picture of the pulley to show where the marks are and what they look like?
there should be sight that you line up on the plastic timing belt covers. than i believe that the mark is cut out of the pulley. i would have to check
