Default SLIPPED timing belt? damage to internals?

the right side engine mount broke and my engine leaning to the right and the engine cant start up. the reason is cuz the timing belt slipped or something. i think it jumped some teeths cuz the timing belt feels a lil wobbly. My question is would there be any damage to my internals?

motor is a single cam zc vtec. pretty much equivelent to d16z6 i think

are you trying to say that your mount broke because the timing belt skipped teeth?

the timing belt didnt slip completely off. what happened was the bolts from the engine mount broke and fell into the timing belt area and clogged up onto one of the gears and the timing belt jumped some teeths. the timing belt looks like its on normal but when u poke at it or tug on it it has some slack

sounds like it could be fairly catastrophic, depending on how many TEETH the belt skipped. more than likely it will result in bent valves, but there can also be associated damage.

what motor was this on, im fairly certain sohc are non interference motors so if it did jump you should be ok, but dohc's are interference motors so if it skipped your done.

get a new motor mount. inspect the damage of the timing belt, if it needs to be changed. set everything to the spec. and diy a compression test.

this i quote from another ht member
"Pretty much all Honda engines are interference SOHC and DOHC. I think there is an older engine that is not.....can't remember of the top of my head what one it was though".
Here is a list of Honda interference engines;
1.2
1.3
1.5
1.6
1.8
2.0 (SOHC)
2.0 (DOHC)
2.1
2.2 (SOHC)
2.2 (DOHC)
2.2 (DOHC Passport)
2.3
2.6
2.7
3.0
3.2
3.5

If you don't see yours listed above then it is a non-interference engine.

so im guessing my single cam ZC vtec 1.6L is an interference motor!!?

well it could be that your belt got caught and the timing belt tensioner got moved making it lose. But if it was still running while it was lose, more then likely you did skip a few teeth. When that happens a few teeth jump then your [freak]ed. What i would do is set everything back to spec's and do a comp test, just how crazyguy said. best of luck!!

yea there were 2 other ppl telling me about the same thing with their single cam timing belt snapping and was able to run normally

for a little more info: the first problems to occur before i knew the timing belt skipped some teeths was that my car became unresponsive. it felt like my gas was getting cut off cuz it started getting sluggish but i was still able to pop vtec, but the vtec didnt feel normal, like i could hear it and all but i couldnt feel it in the wheels cuz i wasn't picking up a lot of speed like it normally would. and this happened for 2 days. the third day i was pulling out from a stop after a whole day of driving and the next thing my car died and my car backfired. i started up my car again and it was crazy loud. i have a stock muffler but it sounded loud like an aftermarket. then it died again after 10 seconds.

stop saying teeths damnit..its TEETH. and ur engine sounds like its prob pretty much not worth fixing considering a peice of the motor mount got lodged in there cause the belt to skip..if i am reading correctly?
