Oil leaking
I just bought a 1992 civic lx. A friend of mine who owns a shop, owed me a favor and so I had him put some exhaust that it needed and change the oil for me. I picked it up and drove it about 15 miles before I noticed the low oil pressure light come on. I popped the hood and could see (and hear) that oil was coming out of the back of the engine. It was snowing like crazy so I couldn't get underneath and look, so I don't know where its coming from. My first thought was that they didn't put the filter on tight enough, but I checked it and its on just fine. Is there a common (or semi-common) problem with these engines doing this? if so what should I be looking for? I'm no stranger to these cars, I've done a few engine swaps in them, but that was years ago and my memory is a little foggy. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
If it's spewing oil out the back, and you lost pressure in less than 15 min my guess would be that he double gasketed it.
What that means is when he took the old filter off the old gasket stayed stuck to the block. Then he put the new filter that has it's own gaskets. Two gaskets, thus double gasketing it. It won't seal.
