Auto Tranny is getting jammed
Hey Everybody,
I just picked up a 1992 GS. When I test drove the car, it didn't act this way at all. The problem is when i put my car into park, it likes to stay there, and it won't recognize that it is in park. Therefore, i can't shift to R, N, D, or any of the other gears. And when it doesn't recognize that it's in park, I can't get my key out of the ignition. Anybody know what's up with this? Is the tranny pooched or is it just a sensor going bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably just the sensor that picks up what gear the selector is in....however Im a little unsure if thats on the shifter or in the tranny. I would assume it is in the tranny, but Im not positive. Figure that out and take it out....probably just needs some lube or something to get it moving freely again.
check the tranny fluid. if it isnt ruby red then change it. this is generally why auto trannys go bad. you may also want to lube the gear selector on the tranny.
