Default '91 Prelude B21A1 Transmission/shifting issues.

Greetings all. I'm rather new to all of this, so please bare with my lack of knowledge.

I've recently been having issues trying to shift into the bottoms gears with my prelude.

It seems that 2/4/R gears don't want to engage. I can shift into them fine, however when I release the clutch nothing happens. It's as if I'm not even in gear. Shifting out of 2nd gets sticky once in a while. 4th and Reverse will engage from time to time if I work at it long enough.

1/3/5 Shift, engage and drive flawlessly.

I've replaced the clutch, and tried two different transmissions. It's possible both trannys are bad, but I'm trying to get a bit more info before I try a rebuild. I've heard it may be the linkage which is something I'll check when I get back home. Though another problem I have is I can't seem to find any linkage for anything but H22's.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Also I'd like to add that the problem is identical with both transmissions, which is what leads me to believe it's more likely linkage related, else I just have really bad luck.

That seems to be the general consensus. Any idea where I might find one save from the dealer?

Only one's I manage to find are for H22s. Not sure what all is interchangeable and whatnot.

they are not interchagneable. dealer is the best bet. you could buy used ones from a junkyard, maybe they wont be as badly stretched.

I agree with the rest, your linkage is the issue. The only option you have are the dealer, or the junkyard.

Come over to preludepower.com, we have an extensive database on all things related to the 88-91 preludes. Just search the FAQ's in the 3rd gen section. You will find a ton of info your lude there. The link is in my signature.
