Hi so i have a 93 obd1 h22a with the manual tension'er conversion in my 92 cx hatch "Loves that ****"


anyway was thinking about picking up the skunk2 intake manifold along with that skunk2 throttle body


any ideas? about other bolt on ideas for some extra ponies?

currently I have a set of magical greddy +3hp headers for looks

this is what im dealing with here







also Iab is directly connected to Intake manifold minus the solenoid so as soon as rpms go up vacuum is reduced and the iab's open might as well hook it up as it doesn't do **** but improve fuel economy at cruise..

just looking for some more engine bay bling/dress up/hiding of things materials and bolt-on's that do more then look need but also gain some hp.

I can see going to a set of cam's that arnt to radical down the road but that's not for a while.

The skunk 2 IM and TB. I wouldnt bother with those. There not carb legal and Ive heardsome states wont pass you on inspection.

Just get a P and P job on your current IM and T B. less money for sameish if nt better gains

Oregon is a bit lax on the subject, they don't do a visual engine inspection, and since its a OBD1 car, they dont even look at the CEL if its lit on the dash and they simply look for a cat, in which case my apexi ws2 exaust appears to have one "some sort of resonating chamber" and then they sniff the cars ***... so.... yeah

is there any reasonable gains from the skunk2 intake manifold and tb?

it would be nice to eliminate IAB's or simply get an equal length manifold that skunk2 one looks like its quite a bit straighter interms of flow without curves in the design in comparison between the airflow path on the oem manifold when iab's are open and closed.


I know that bolt on gains in most of the stuff for all cars are pretty minimal interms of performance/price besides the camp1320 headers and all that crazy stuff...

its cool that you want stuff to look good, but buying aftermarket parts without doing your research is like buying a car without test driving it.

No, not at this time

most likely going to go s300 sometime down the road, and possibly a set of cams and camgears, although Im not looking to get a set of cams that affects idle much I believe I saw some Stage2 cams on crower which looked to be a bit more potent then I expected.

 

Props on a very nice and clean engine bay. I wish mine was half that clean. Have you considered a euro-r i/m? You could send it and your existing t/b to maxbore to get some work done before installation. Also since you have have a civic and have already taken out a/c have you considered using a smaller D series alternator and relocating it lower? Someone makes a bracket. This is mostly cosmetic with minor weight savings though. If you did something unique with the valve and spark plug covers you could really make the engine bay pop.

You ought to choose which you want more, bling or horsepower because the most effective things aren't exactly always pretty.
The Skunk2 is alright on N/A apps but is more effective on boost. Not to mention it has no provision for the EGR, but that won't be a problem if you're OBD1 and dont' have emissions. I'm not a fan of how the did the IACV on there either. Go with the Euro R or modify the stock one. The stock mainfolds are actually pretty decent to get some gains out of.

Im not sure how your english is but i dont understand if your talking about how I did the iacv or how honda did it, cause I didn't touch it if thats what your asking

Hell if it didnt need wires going to it id probably lop the thing off and put it in a drawr somewhere..


Interesting idea about the alternator though SikB never had any idea about that

as for something with the valve and spark covers, like what?


I'm a fan of oem look with modifications done, not really so much with "im going to copy you and do the same thing look"


as for an idea of a painted valve cover you cant go wrong with black

I love the wrinkled look on valve covers not women.

 

Looks clean as [freak] man, don't know if im diggin the blue hoses though

you know slow_BB6 I get quite a few people saying that, I don't know they better fscking like them there a stupid 24 cents an inch for that thick crap!

I think the fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine bay was something like 35 bucks heh... my fuel filter was 60 for a reusable one which is off a hotrod...


heh yeah I suppose I could have used black hose with that black/red nylon insulation you see.... come to think of it that would probably look better..

 

My taste would go towards making the valve cover a brighter color to draw attention to it. It could match the color of your hoses for instance. If you wanted to keep it darker you could always sand it down and powdercoat it black or the same color as your car. I didn't notice before that you painted the spark plug cover and the wire harness cover to match your car.

 

heh i don't think theres a chance in hell id powdercoat my valve cover that type of blue...

It would take a year and a day, but I'm planning on doing this to mine...

Take off your intake and get a euro Type-R one, then ship off for a good P&P job. When it gets back, polish that sucker like crazy, and get some por15 rim protectant clear coat and hit everything on the intake that you can. Not the thing the throttle cable hooks onto though. P&P on a type-R is worth probably 10-15hp with a good tune (get an fpr to help out, a nice billet one ).

Can't beat a nice shiny intake.

Then color match your CAI and valve cover to your hoses.

get the skunk2 pro series IM and TB, a better header with 2.5 collector/2.5 exhaust, a tune, with a V.S. intake, and you will be very happy
