Eliminate the obvious first... If your throwing an o2 code get that handled bofore you dive into the head, make sure theres no cuts in the o2 wire as they can get hardened from heat and oil over time and crack, if wire is intact from ecu to o2 then replace the o2... Get the code to go away then diagnose. BTW, if its an 88-91 Si its a 1.6 liter. If you need a stock replacement head you can use either the 88-91 d15b2 (dx) 92-95 d15b7 or 88-91 d16a6 (stock si) head but if you use anything other than an a d16a6 you should swap your original cam into it since its slightly more aggressive than the d15 versions of the head. Or you could consider a vtec head from a d16z6 (92-95 ex/si) or d16y8(96-00 ex) search mini-me for more info on that. or even a d16y7 non-vtec head will work nice. D series are like lego's, you can do all sorts of cool combo's with oem parts.

may be running rich because that cylinder isn't firing...when i took my motor apart i found a cracked piston (it was running on 3 of 4 when i bought it). i had to replace that piston and rings. if you've got spark and fuel, you'll need to pull the head at least.
