Default 90 Accord 6 Disc Changer Code EEEE

Just changed factory radios from the original in my 90 Accord LX (static all the time) to one from a 93 Accord EX. I already had a Honda 6 disc changer (from a 91 Accord I believe) installed, so just swapped all the wiring around. When I turn the radio on, it plays fine (no more static!), but the CD player now shows "EEEE" on the face and does not respond to any buttons.

Try a "reboot", disconnect the batt. neg.(-) lead, wait a wait 30 sec. and reconnect.

You said, "I already had a Honda 6 disc changer" so when you say "the CD player" are you talking about the changer or a single disk in the new HU?

Either way, if it's a "latched" processor the reboot should work, if not and you do mean the changer, reconnect your old HU and see if the changer still works, if it does, the "new" HU is defective, if not, it is not unusual for an old piece of car audio equipment to go west, [die] the last time you disconnect power or when you re-power it. 94

Radio is Honda AM/FM/Cassette, Honda 6 disc changer in the trunk with the control unit mounted under the radio. Reset by disconnecting the battery for 1/2 hour - same problem. Re-installed old radio - same problem. Rats!

Check all your connections going to the 6 disk changer. Try undoing all the connections to the CD player/6 disk and re-doing them.

Ditto the above, at the same time, check the plugs and make sure no pins have been bent. 94

Tried all the above, same problem. I may have pulled too hard (forgot one connection) when trying to remove them the first time. I'll have to remove the head unit and check the wires from the plug.

Success! Opened the head unit and an internal plug had unplugged (don't pull on wires!). Plugged it back in, reinstalled head unit and radio - everything works again.
