92 civic with crazy idle
First of all, I did do a search and didn't find anything to do with my car in general, so I thought I would just ask.
First of all ever since I bought 2 years ago the car has idled at 1800 rpm. Back then I did the IAC cleaning, and did what I was told to set the idle and got no results. The only difference was that once in a blue moon when I came to a stop it would idle perfectly but once I got to the next set of lights it was back up to 1800. Well now 2 years later I am fed up with it so I tought I would try again. So I cleaned the IAC valve again, checked it's resistance value which is within specs, tried to adjust the idle again, and got nothing.
The next day I went to go out and it was now reving at 3300 rpm untill it warmed up and now it revs up and down between 1200 and 2000 rpm non stop. If I unplug plug the IAC valve it will rev up and down between 1000 and 1100 rpm really fast.
Any help is greatly appreciated and may even stop my hair from turning grey.
Thanx
I may have found the problem, I took the cold air intake off to further see if I could find any problems. So if you take a look at my picture you'll see I labelled it, the top hole goes to the IAC valve but I don't know where the bottom one goes, with the car running and I plug the bottom hole the car idles perfectly. Does anybody here know what that hole is for?

Problem Solved. It turned out that on the bottom of the TB there is some sort of Thermostat or something and I guess it vibrated loose and created a huge vacuum leak. In two years this is the first time my car has ever idled. I am so pumped.
Thanx anyways.

good to know u solved the problem. i had the same problem once, it created a high pitch whitsle sound. turned out to be one of the bolts that secured throttle body to intake manifold was loose.
