Fuel Pump Cut-Off Switch... WTF?!?!!
im puttin a kill switch on a 99 DX Hatch... im cutting the ground wire from the pump so there is low/no amperage but it still primes and works fine with the ground wire cut, wut the fukc is goin on? does it ground to the body part or sumthin??? if so y is there a ground wire? i've been askin for a wiring diagram but nobody has replied
When we replaced the fuel pump in a friends car, I don't recall many metal pieces being in contact with the plate, but it might be seeking ground through a small contact to the body somewhere. Why wouldn't you put the cut off switch on the +12 going back to it though?
i pulled the pump. the ground connection from the pump goes to the pump housing/bracket. there is continuity between the grounding point and the ground at the conctor but ALSO continuity between the grounding point and where it mounts under the seat

you do relize the same amount of current runs through the ground wire as it does the power wire

You could always put the switch on a $7 relay from Radio Shack http://www.radioshack.com/prod...earch .... something tells me the pump's not going to pull 40A
.... unless you found some crazy 480W fuel pump... if so... your gas mileage must be horrid!
