Refundable Extended Warranty
just bought a brand new honda civic ex. while checking out, they sold me an extended warranty. normally, i would have said hell no.
there pitch was different and it went like this: $1695 to extend it to 7 years / 100k miles. anything within 3 yrs / 36k is covered under the standard warranty. if you kick in an extra $200 to $1895, the warranty is refundable. if after 7 years and i do NOT have any warranty work performed, i can get all my money back.
in my simple head, it seemed like a perfect insurance policy. if something or two breaks, i'm covered as long as it costs more than $1895. if nothign breaks, i can get my money back.
certainly, i haven't received all the paperwork and read point for point.
has anyone heard of anything like that?
if so, what are you thoughts....

I bought a new Civic EX with NAV for my brother last night. The extended warranty was 825 for 7yr/100k bumper to bumper $0 deductible through Honda Care. I know its refundable but its prorated, minus use. As far as I know, its not refundable if you never use it.
I'm not sure what warranty you bought and why you paid so much.

I just returned my warranty. Theres something if you wait more then 60 days they keep a portion of it, and the longer you wait it gets prorated.

Absolutely correct. Honda doesn't do this anymore.
To the OP, either you or your salesman is full of s**t.

how about you stop being suck a dick to people? The OP is coming here because he wants to know more about the policy. The OP is trying to find out if his dealer is full of it. Why don't you try and settle down a bit and give some nice advise to people.

Yeah, I see how that would come off as dick-ish, but it's not how I meant it at all.
Actually, I just realized that I omitted a couple words that I meant to include in my post.
I meant to say "To the OP, either you got ripped off or your salesman is full of s**t."
IDK what happened. OOPS.

it is fully refundable up to 60 days from purchase and prorated after that. i know because i cancelled mine. it is credited back to your loan towards the principal or if you paid the car off, you get the check.
