5th gen making whistling noise
yeah so it started today. when i get past like 2500 rpms somethin makes a whistling noise. its hard to tell where its coming from, but it sounds like an air leak. exhaust or intake?
i got a k&n short ram on it now and its been on it for like 2 months along with the exhaust for around 2 months and nothing else done to it that would make that noise
Is it a constant tone, or does it change throughout the RPM range? Have you checked your belts? If you have any threads coming loose then it can make a whistling sound.

The belts (AC/Alt, PS) are strengthened by a type of string or thread on the inside, so if your belts are old, or you have a bur on one of your pulleys it will make the belt start to come apart, usually on one edge. I would check edges of the belts all the way around. This may not be the same whistling sound that you are hearing, but it is worth a look.

Your not going to be able to turn it without some force. I would try to run my finger along the edges to see if you can feel anything, and also check it when it is running. If it is indeed the belt that is the culprit, it shoudn't be too hard to find the problem. BTW, have you checked all your vacuum hoses and made sure your short ram hasn't started to vibrate lose at any of the connections. Just something else to keep in mind when you are under the hood.
ok, so i found out that the whistling turbo sounding noise only happens when my lights are on and it started after i got my head unit but not right after, like about a week later i think. now what do u guys think?
Sounds like your alternator may be going bad. You should have it checked to make sure it is producing enough juice. Bearings could be going out.
