Default crv transmission

Is it possible, without having to fab everything, to swap in either a b16 or an itr transmission into a crv - obviously the one that came with a b20, but more specifically the 2wd fwd version?

on the 1st gen. crv it is possible to swap the tranny with any other b-tranny as long the crv is not an awd, although i see no sense realy b-coz of the size of the tire on the crv is huge compared to honda cars that use b-trannies and the fact that the crv wieghs over 3k lbs,so if you thinking those trannies in a crv will make you faster,i dought it, theres more to it to make a crv go fast...i would start out with an awd... although if your just needing a tranny for replacement, get the same one to save you the headache...

I see no reason why it wouldn't work (meaning bolt up to the block and chassis). You can remove the back half of the AWD system if you have an AWD model.

The 4wd model is cable shifted so it'd be more than a simple tranny swap if he wanted to convert to 2wd.

If the OP really wants to make his CRV faster he should invest in a different tire size. The CRV gearing isn't bad at all, it's the tall tires that f-up the gearing.

The 4WD trans also uses a different mount then the other B series trans...it will bolt up to the block but a custom trans mount would be needed, i also believe the rear mount bracket is different...it is possible but you will need to do some fab work...

I think the shifting mechanisms are different when AWD is compared to 2WD.
