Check resistance at the ECU connector, and see if it is within range when the engine is cold (so that you know what the temp roughly is compared to atmoushpere). I know on the D16 Multi point cars it is between pins C6 & C12 on the ECU, I would expect it to be the same on the Dual point cars, but I am just guessing on that one. This will tell you if the ECU is at least seeing proper info, and will rule out all the wiring and sensor at the same time if it reads within range.

Check your connector also, Sometimes the wire comes loose or does not make contact.

Also are you sure you replaced the corrct sensor. People confuse the 2 sensors with eachother. Coolant temp is black with a GOLD nut!

so what should I do if the resistance is not what is noted on that picture you showed me? i probed the c6 and c12 terminals and didnt get anything close to the numbers on that chart, and the engine was cold.
