From what I have heard and read about they are not the same. The header for the ex doesnt have a cat where as the lx does. This makes the ex header shorter so you have to have a longer down pipe and I also think the monts might be slightly different as well.

Like what was said by the other person the lx model I beleive has the cat on the header itself all in one I guess. But I do know that you can purchase an exhaust for the lx for the ex models and use the piping and muffler with a use of an adaptor from Tanabe for mix n match exhaust.

The LX/DX models have the cat on the end of the exhaust manifold (header) itself. There are headers for the LX specifically out there by companies such as Kamikaze.

The EX models have the exhaust manifold, that collects at the end to a flange, that connects to a downpipe that holds your cat.

However I'd opt to not get a header anyway because its a waste of money and besides, our exhaust manifold ports match up to the ports on your block anyway, so making them bigger, really wouldnt help at all.
