Default Will this change the tone of my exhaust?

I have a thermal axel back right now and it sounds really good. It is deep toned and not too loud. Im looking to a buy either a custom 2.25 in b pipe or get one from thermal or some other company as well as a get a 2.25 hi flow cat from either dave at smsp or a carsound cat. I have two questions. First, will there be any difference in peformance if I got dave to make the peice for me as opposed to getting the thermal b pipe and carsound cat? I dont want to spend more than $300. And secondly, will adding a cat change my exhaust tone? I used to have a 00 SI and I have the 5 zigen fireball cat back. It was rather quiet and sounded fairly deep. Then I put a test pipe in place of my stock cat and the car got a million times louder and sounded like a constant fart. I dont want the tone of my exhaust to change again. If it gets louder or quieter, I dont care. Please give me as much feed back as possible. Thanks!

Man, you've been here not even 30 days and already this is the 9th thread you've started about exhausts. You can post new questions in old threads, you know....

[e]Yea, a testpipe can and will cause some "undesired raspiness" on a lot of systems.
