Default can you reprogram our ECU'S?

I checked and couldn't find were anyone talked about this. I just got my ecu replaced do to having m alternator fry it and was wondering if they can be reprogramed? I heard rumors that our years can't but wasn't sure and thought one of you guys might no...

No support on the stock ecu's for the D17 engines unless you swap into a
K-Series.

You can't reprogram the OEM ECU. But, you can run a K-pro module on it, or run a piggy-back ECU.

to run k pro you have to swap in a k series ecu. it wont run on the D17 ecu

that's what I thought but I wanted to make sure since they gave me back the fried ecu when I picked up my car and wasn't sure if it was good for anything. thanks guys
