My buddy and I swapped cars for a short drive ('01 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro)
Well, after numerous debates with my diehard VW/Audi friend about who's car is better stock for different forms of racing, we had a chance to drive each other's car. I have a near stock '00 ITR and he's got a stock '01 Audi A4 1.T Quattro. One time he was drunk and he went OFF about how much better his AWD car was, blah, blah. Told me he was positive that with equal drivers that his A4 could murder my ITR on the roadcourse. I told him he was looney.

Well we swapped cars for a brief drive last night. We both had the chance to try each other's girls out.
My thoughts on the '01 A4 1.8T Quattro:
- Good boost, not much lag...pulls you nicely
- Good torque (turbo obviously)
- Weak shifter feel
- VERY poor braking...I couldn't believe it.
- Good suspension feel, not as loose as the WRX
- Never got to really feel the AWD...didn't get to push it like I wanted to
- Good overall build quality
- Great factory Bose stereo
He loved the ITR. He had an ear to ear grin when he got out. He said he was suprised at how well it handled. He also asked me if there was someway he could get his older Jetta to handle like it. hehe.

"With equal drivers that his A4 could murder my ITR on the roadcourse", at least he knows you are a better driver
good review
good review
good one, some ppl just don't believe a cheap car( for those ppl never thought a Handa can be faster than those Bs!) can also be fast and has good handling.
What murder an R on a road course... i dont think so, those Audi are fat bastards.. plus with that little stock turbo, forget it... that car was designed for open roads... notice to R owners, unless you have some major mods.... do not try to keep up with a S4 on the highway, or else you will be OWNED!

Yeah...I did tell him that the S4 would be a much better opponent in one of our MANY debates. On the highway...the R wouldn't have a chance, but on a roadcourse it would be a better matchup.
I've driven an S4 on a roadcourse and well..lets just say that it is a GREAT sports sedan that is a king on the streets but stock, is a bit too much to handle (weight wise) to be a serious competitor to the R on most road courses. Maybe on a VERY fast road course but on a twisty lower speed one, good luck S4!
