Default Use my ls block for ls/vtec or use the ls crank for my gsr??

Money is always a constant issue with alot of us trying to build up our motors. I currently have a mild GSR setup in my EG. I just recently aquired a complete LS block for free. I'm trying to figure out which route I should go so that I can sell whatever I do not use to get some extra money back for any other parts I may need. Im leaning towards using the LS crank & rods in the GSR and than selling the bare LS block and GSR crank/rosa to get some extra money back.

I guess im just trying to get some real world feedback from other members who can put thier shoes in mine.

I have about $1700 saved to go towards my SSR street sweeper header and OBX itbs. eeeek

use the ls block and sell the gsr or build the gsr, straight.

Use the GSR block. I think it's a little more stout(which doesn't matter much if you're staying NA) and you won't have to tap for LS/Vtec. The oil and water pumps were also designed for a little higher rpm.

LS crank in the GSR block will cost you more money and inconvenience than just redoing the LS block, or staying GSR. You'll have to have a machine shop align hone the journals at least to be sure that the LS crank rotates smoothly in the gsr block. depends on your patience, time, and local machine shop skills; not to mention budget.

if its a stret car.. LS crank makes more power, and even though the GSR block is more stout. you will most likely never exert surpass the limits of just an LS block. GSR is worth more money. I went LS.. but it depends on your needs and goals. Both can make more than enough HP to run mid 13's in an EG on street tires
