Would you buy this S2k?
So I found this S2k semi-locally to me. Here are the specs:
2002 Berlina
125k miles
All stock
OEM hardtop
Interior and Exterior look in good shape.
Dealer is asking $14.8k for it.
I know the miles are high but the price is good for this part of the US and also it comes with a hardtop, which I would be planning to buy anyway, and BB is my favorite color.

You seem pretty sold on it.
I wouldn't, though. I'd buy a lower mileage one without a hard top for about that much. Then save up for the hard top. Do a nationwide search. If you drive away from your area, you may save thousands. Driving may only cost hundreds.

I don't have to buy it, there are plenty of S2K's out there and I have money and time so I have no problem holding out.
I just feel like this is a good deal since I plan on getting BB and a hardtop anyway, the only thing that bothers me is the mileage. It is a Honda though....

To what? $12k?

have you driven it? if so...how does the clutch, trans, diff, etc feel?
if it has all been mechanically maintained properly, go for it. if not, talk them down to around their asking price after maintenance. i did that with my rsx. needed tires, brake pads & rotors, and clutch and i got them down about $2000 for all of that

check maintenance records and have the shop do a compression test. if possible with you there. i just got lucky and got a new engine from my extended warranty, on my '03 with 70k that i bought used 5k miles ago. but you may not be so lucky and i don't think theres any warranty company that will warranty a car with over 100k.
btw my can ran perfect even though i had a 70psi drop on #2 cylinder and my valve guides were worn to ****.

find a car semi close with the same milage thats cheaper and bring the info in. say "i think this car is over priced, and the hardtop would be kinda nice i guess, but doesnt really matter to me so i dont think the whole package is worth 14,xxx"
if u can get it for dirt cheap then go for it if it checks out... but as a ball park i got my MY01 with 54k for 14,800 (private seller)

A dealer would probably take this in for a trade in for somewhere around $6500-$7000. Another $1200 - $1600 is probably put into this car if the dealer decides to sell it, making a gross profit of somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000 - $6000. But then again, who knows if they are buried taking that trade in, but you can probably negotiate for something like $10.8k - $11.2k plus fees. It also helps to ask the salesman how long the car has been on the lot so you can see if they are willing to take the drop in price.

I could say the same about an EVO...
I could say the same about an EVO...
yeah forget that, i recently found an original owner car all original 44k miles for that price.
and that is here in california where it should be more expensive in the first place.
