Default Designing new system: one of two choices: help me choose!

OK, the first option is obviously better, but obviously more expensive. Assuming that you can technically afford either option, but do not want to spend where it is not needed or considered to be an "overkill," which would you choose? Also assume that these are the only options!

Option 1:

(1) Alpine CDA-9887 HU
(2) JL Audio ZR525-CSi 5-1/4 2-way CS (for front & rear)
(1) JL Audio Slash v2 450/4v2 AMP (150w to front / 75w to back)
(1) JL Audio 10W3v3-2 10" 2-ohm SUB
(1) JL Audio Slash v2 500/1v2 AMP (500w to sub)
(1) Tsunami Lite Wave Capacitor 2.0-farad

The second option basically elliminates the back component sets and uses a two-channel amp to power the front components. It's also about $1,250 cheaper.

Option 2:

(1) Alpine CDA-9887 HU
(1) JL Audio ZR525-CSi 5-1/4 2-way CS
(1) JL Audio Slash v2 Series 300/2v2 (150w to front)
(1) JL Audio 10W3v3-2 10" 2-ohm SUB
(1) JL Audio Slash v2 500/1v2 AMP (500w to sub)
(1) Tsunami Lite Wave Capacitor 2.0-farad

Go with #2 if for no other reason then you do not need or want tweeters behind you, they will only make it difficult if not impossible to set up a proper front stage with good imaging.
If you do want to run rear speakers, use mid-range/mid-bass drivers, wire them in series for an 8 ohm mono load and bridge the two rear channels of the 450/4, that way you have a very clean, mono rear fill channel. 94

Thats a great suggestion!

Never occured to me that I could use the opportunity to fill in the freq range that is least powered (250-1000Hz).

Do you think, though, that even without some mid-range speakers the system will be balanced and loud enough? I'm hoping to achieve club-like sound. My previous system was loud, but not really a loud/clear/dynamic as if being in a club.

thx for your help

Tony

how about Kicker 04SSMB8 for midbass? can't seem to find many selections for speakers in the 250-800Hz range.

also, i think im gonna switch the w3 for the w6. only a couple hundred bucks more and it will handle the 500w better.

The Kickers will work, but even just the woofers, [mids] of the 2nd set of ZR525s would work.
My read fill is a set of Eclipse 6.5" 2ways with the tweeters disabled.

BTW stick with the W3 it is a 500W sub, the W6 is a 600W sub. 94
