overpressurized coolant system?
Hey everyone.
My coolant system is super pressurized, and i'm trying to figure out what's going on? Once the car is warmed up and driven, coolant sprays all over the engine bay. It's coming out from around the radiator cap. (I've tried 3 different caps)
With the stock spring style clamps it started leaking around the upper and lower radiator hoses. I put on the screw style clamps, and tightened it like crazy and that fixed that; although it was still leaking around the cap.
New upper and lower radiator hoses.
Drove the car for about 2 hours, and then a smaller coolant hose, the "heater hose" blew up and left me stranded.
What's going on?
It seems like my coolant system is WAY WAY over pressurized.
Is this characteristic of a blown headgasket? Is there anything else it could be?
Thanks all.

yeah seriously get that thing fixed as soon as you can, it sounds like to me that the head is cracked because it's pressurizing that much into your coolant system and even if the head isn't cracked it will more than likely be warped and you can either shave it down if it isn't too bad and run a thicker head gasket to bring the compression ratio back to par or just get another head to replace it with.

i bled it and kept adding coolant until bubbles weren't coming up anymore. probably 20-30minutes. what's the proper way to bleed a system? does the heater need to be running? etc...?
i'd say the lower hose is softer then the upper one yes. i'm not really sure though...
