Default CD Player Issue?

Ok, this is a weird problem that I just discovered over the past couple of days.
(I'm slow on fixing things that aren't THAT important)

I have checked the wires running to the CD Player, and I have a solid ground.
The CD Player comes on but I get no Sound at all.

I did notice whenever I pushed the stereo in about half an inch, the sound kicked in, but once I let off the pressure, the sound died back off.

So my question is, do you think that this issue is the factory wiring to the speakers or could it be something else?

Thanks

Make sure your fm antenna is securely plugged into the radio. For whatever reason, when I put the stock deck back in my car, the cd player would not work without the fm antenna plugged into the radio. Try starting there after making sure the harness is correctly plugged in as well as any other wires for the cd player. As far as I can remember, all you should have to plug in to the radio is the harness and the antenna.

Yeah,

I have the antenna plugged in securely, but there isn't really a "Harness". Just a simple bracket for mounting purposes.

Everything else seems pretty secure and I have "reconnected" all the wiring as to make sure that there isn't a problem with anything.

I have also heard about some CD Players not working when you dont have the antenna plugged in, but I have also heard where they work only with the antenna unplugged.

Well I have tried both and still no sound

Oh well, May just have to run new wires.

if it's detachable face, sounds like maybe a loose connection or dirty contacts. my sony has a bad connection in at the plug to the player (in the back), sometimes i have to reach behind there and wiggle it to get my left front speaker back

i hate sony. i bought the cdxgt420ip and it blew out my left door infinity when i plugged the sub in. when i sent it to sony the said they were going to replace it with the same model, then they said they were going to repair it, then they asked if they could send me an older model, which they said still had the ipod direct connect. Well it didn't and they wanted me to pay to sned it back cause of THEIR mistake. I was pissed and I almost filed a complaint with the office of consumer affairs. I already spent 20 dollars in shipping and waited six weeks and I am a high school student paying every dollar I have just to keep my car as it is. I will not be buying sony again, at least for car audio.

On a different note, it is stock radio with the separate cd player, correct? I assumed that was what you were referring to?

make sure everything is clean and making contact
even with that, it still may be the player
i had an aftermarket sony in my dx and it did random things.
after replacing it with my pioneer, i have no problems at all to speak of.

Your sony deck blew out your left door speaker when you plugged in your sub? Read that again your self, and tell me if that doesnt sound like the most random theory ever. And tell me you weren't hooking up stereo stuff with the stereo on!

nah i did not do it with my radio on haha. i actually unplugged the battery. and it was a couple of days after my sub had been set up. i let a friend do it for me, but i should have just done it myself. the deck broke, and when it did it blew out a speaker. writing the whole story would take a long frickin time to do, this is the short version haha. either way i will not be buying sony again after i get this situation straight.

Sooooo...

I just spent some time outside today trying to see if I could fix the problem, and still its a no go.

Even with a new CD Player, nothing plays unless it is in the Bay and pushed up from the bottom.

Same issue even with the new CD Player, lights come on, but no sound until I bump it from the bottom.

Anyone have any other suggestions.
Ohh, and it I get power but no sound EVEN when it is completely out of the bay, which is weird as well, because I remember that being a great way to test the CD Players out before I completely installed everything else.

Well, that is good to know in the event that I do actually replace it with another cd player down the line. But at the moment, the two units that I have tested in the crx both work, but aren't pumping out any sound.

It just doesn't make any sense to me seeing as how it is hooked up entirely correct, grounded correctly, and even mounted correctly, yet no sound is played..
(yes, the volume is up)

could be how you did your speaker wires on back of plug, could be grounding out back there... check the wires far back as you can, make sure they all not chopped up etc...

Checked the wires as FAR back as I could, and all of them are quite intact..

Even pulling back the plastic "Protective Sleeve" and looking at the wires in there show that they are all 100%.

Maybe I will post a picture of what the inside area looks like and maybe someone can spot something that I'm just not seeing lol.

dude just test the wires. there should only be about 4 wire to check, left front +, right front +, and the rear 2. take any portable music player and touch each positive wire to the earphone jack portion and see if you get any type of sound. even the slightest poping sounf means your getting through so its not the wiring. most likley its gonna be the player itself.

Get a multimeter and check the wires if you haven't already. Theres a good chance it's just a short in one of the wires.

Ok new question.

Now I'm not interested in the back of the stereo at all... There is only one way for it to be hooked up and nothing is shorting out there..

So where might I locate the area where the HUGE Bundle of "Radio Wires" are connected. I have tried tracing them, but seriously, I'm not really small enough to find where they are running to.

I am guessing that there is a problem with this main clump of wires, so I am going to try tracing them to the Fuse Box or wherever they are connected and see if I can replace all of those.

Thanks In Advance.
