Default Black Smoke

What does it mean?

When I go about 3/4 to full throttle, I get a continous black smoke trail about a cars length and a very stinky smell inside the car.

At first, I thought that the tuner (I have hondata) made it too rich, so I installed a PLX wide band and it goes anywhere from 13.0-13.5, during 3/4 to full throttle.

Should I have the tuner lean it out, I have read that the A/F is where it should be, but I cant stand the smoke trail, it makes me feel if I am in the game "spy hunter" and leaving a smoke screen everytime I get on my car.

The timing is set at 16, but the tuner could have modified the timing using the hondata, Would that be the problem? Help, it really stinks.

Well I got some suggestions from the Integra forum, but no real lead to what the problem is.

https://honda-tech.com/zero...14026

Mods:
1996 Gsr
Short ram intake (AFE filter)
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
Port/Polished head (milled 1 mm)
Skunk 2 stage 2 cams
310cc injectors
Hytech Clone header
Magnaflow resonator/muffler (2.5" pipe)
P28 Hondata
PLX Wideband Sensor

Wideband Readings:
idle -> low 17 - low 14 (mostly 15.xx)
normal driving ->high 15 - high 13s
aggressive driving -> mid 14 - mid/low 13s
full throttle -> high 13 - 13.0 (mostly 13.2)

Occasionally a high 12 when I initially punch it, momentary LEAN reading when I let off the throttle.

Try romping around on it hard for a a while. You might just have some built up carbon on the pistons and valves. My car does it all the time. After I race for a while I wont get any smoke at at all. I had someone once tell me I should rev through the gears everyday when I get on the freeway just to burn up the carbon.

That may be it, I have been daily driving it for a while without really getting on it.

Should I get some fuel cleaner product stuff?

I guess you could. I never really use that stuff I just always buy good gas like shell or chevron. If your really worried about carbon build up you could seafoam the motor.

It's more than carbon build up if you are seeing that much smoke. Either you are running pig rich and your wideband is lying to you, or you are burning something. You might want to pull your dipstick from time to time; it may be trying to tell you something.

Well it burns about a quart of oil approx. 2000 miles of normal driving.

What do you think the problem is? Rings? Valve seals?

I just took off my intake tube today to clean the throttle body and IAC and noticed that inside my intake manifold is slightly oily.

My bolt-on b18C-R on stock JDM p73 ecu blows out black smoke once in a while, but just how smileycvc said to fill in the gears to get that **** all out.. that actually works with my car.

Have you changed out all your emission stuff? spark plugs/fuel filter/clean air filter/o2 sensor?

edit: never mind you're only at 3/4 throttle at 13.0 A/F

Rings. Compression test it.

although it burns oil, it shouldn't be blowing out black smoke. If its the rings then it should be blowing out blue/white smoke.

Wouldnt that make it worse? The higher octane is harder to burn, well unless I add timing to compensate.
