10lbs of boost on d16z6 healthy?
alright, heres the scoop, i got this kid in my town that just put an ebay bought turbo kit, and all cheapo lines and ****, and has done nothing with his internals, he also hasn't done anything with his fuel system, so basically he just slapped a turbo on, he might have got it tuned, but i highly doubt it, but its possible. anyways, he is talking all this mad **** to people tellin them his car would make mine look like its standing still in the quarter mile. A lil more info, he put this turbo on himself and has absolutely no idea on what he was doing. I have a 93 del sol, d16z6 with a turbo and i'm only running 6lbs, and i have a 255 walbro fuel pump, and a good tune, so i was wondering if it was healthy to run his d16z6 at 10lbs, cuz if it is, i might want to put mine to like 8lbs,......just some info would be great!
You can't just go basing your decisions off some random persons bullshit. No matter what.
If he says he can leave your car "standing still" in the quarter, ask for times.
If you want to get more out of your car then find a way to do it, don't worry about what his car can take or the fact its holding together against all odds... (if hes even telling the truth...)

Most aftermarket turbo kits usually run somewhere around 7-10 lbs of boost(if they have their own ECU.) So yeah, I dont really think it would hurt the car if you turned up the wick a tad. I wouldn't go any higer than 10 lbs, and if you do increase your boost, make sure you put premium fuel in the tank before you start any shenanigans.
The other thing to consider is the turbo he is using. 10lbs does not equal 10lbs. 10lbs of a t20 might make 120hp, as where 10lbs out of a gt42 might make 400hp.
The D will hold 10 psi fine. You just need to have all the right pieces to do it right.
How big are your injectors? Your pump should be fine.
Check out http://www.turbod16.com there's lot of info
there.
We took the our D16z6 to 9.85 in the 1/4 mile.

I'm so tired of people basing things in terms of PSI. It is an irrelevant measurement. Your stock D is fine to 220-240whp. If you want more answers, we have a Forced Induction forum for a reason
