turbo question
so yeah i'm a complete noob wen it comes to turbocharging or supercharging...i read in a previous post that where someone was askin if their current setup is good enough for turbo charging...to be honest, i didn't even know you have to "prepare" your engine like that...i thought you could just grab some bolt on turbo it from greddy or somethin and bolt it on...what exactly would i need for an effective turbo kit? specific parts is what i'm askin and who makes good turbo kits? pls, NA driver in need of help
Well, depending on your current setup, C/R, condition of the motor, etc. You can bolt on any kit you want without building the bottom end. Plenty of people do it, as long as your not going for ***** to the wall power. Run low boost, get a good tune, and u should be happy for a while. However, u ARE on stock internals/sleeves that weren't meant for boost, so keep that in mind when ur thinking about longevity.
I would just do it all at once, instead of waiting for ur stocker to grenade from a boost spike, grab some pistons and rods, new bearings, a fresh new bore, oil and water pump, clutch for sure, and go for the turbo kit after that.
IMO, skip the mass produced kits. Piece together ur kit, there are plenty of people here that provide EVERYTHING you need. A small rundown of parts would be,
turbo, wastegate, blow off, piping, intercooler, dump tube, downpipe, injectors, chip the ecu, tune, exhaust, oil lines, FPR, boost gauge is always helpful, and i could never live without my wideband.
i don't know what else i missed, im tired, and going to bed.
hope that helps a bit.

yeah this helps a lot...i mean like i said...i'm all stock basically...all i have are ceramic headers...short ram...and vtec controller...that's it...so basically there are just a few things before the turbo gets in? thanks for the help i'll be sure to look in investing this upcoming summer
