Default jdm hood question?

what's up with this trend? i've seen all kinds of cars with the hood "poped" in the rear. everyone that i've asked about it say that it's a jdm thing. can anyone shed some light on this for me?

sorry for who"s ever car this is...i was just using it as an example.

correct... and its also useful in releasing the warm air under there if you remove the weather stripping at the top of the firewall..

people who say its jdm, a fad, or just gay.... Dont do it because they dont have a purpose. I didnt do it till i blew a hole through my last cf hood on a launch and realized there was a clearance issue with my lsv setup..

my hood is propped for my turbo setup.... hopefully underhood temps are a bit less cause i dont like how it looks. this guy has a bit of proof though:

My friends H2B EG hatch has to pop his hood, and had to cut a little bit of the support out to be able to close his hood. He isn't a fan of the popped hood, but loves his h2b.
