what is this vacuum solenoid??
ok, what is it...what does it do...and can I remove it??
the engine is a 91 b18a1 that I'm boosting and I could really use the two vacuum ports on the intake manifold that this thing feeds to. I mean, one of them goes to the pre-throttlebody side and the other goes right past it. There's no electrical connections to it so I can only assume it's some sort of passive vacuum operated valve that maybe helps at idle or something goofy like that??
can I unbolt it and toss it??

Don't know what exactly it's for, but I know the one next to it (that you have removed already) is for something with the way the car revs. I did remove the one you pictured on both my obd0 b16 and obd0 b18a1 (same thing basically) but there's a big hole where that dashpot is bolted at that you have to plug somehow...if you don't, you can expect a 3,000+ RPM idle when at operating temperature...lol, so it's best to plug it. Take off those two screw and you will see what I mean..
Good luck.
Good luck.
hmmm thats good, is it a round hole that has to be plugged?? If so I may just tap it and thread a brass bung on it and use it for another vacuum port.
the one next to that I removed?? the one that I have removed already was one that everyone told me controlled the cruise control...
hmmm

take it off and see what happens.. if it runs like crap put it back on! I dont think it does anything becasue when i took mine off my ls it was fine.

one hose went to the factory intake line that attaches to the throttle body, the other hose runs to just past the throttle body to a nipple on the intake manifold.
It seems like it almost does nothing in that capacity lol.
I dont want to just "take it off and see what happens" since the next time I crank the engine up it will be boosted and I dont want to accidently blow it up by not having something hooked up that possibly should be...

"AIR BOOST VALVE" (See OEM Diagram on Underside of Hood)
I don't know how it operates or exactly what it does.
Someone said it Aides Engine Start-Up.
Some people remove it, Removed by Honda/Acura on Later Models.
Still have mine, same Engine. Let me know how it works out.
