CRV auto tranny shifting VERY rough and smells like a clutch burning...
Hey all,
I DD a CRV (automatic) and its been shifting hard for months now. Won't really go into 5th gear on the beltway and I know something is up (obviously has been for a while). I know NOTHING about auto transmissions, but thought this was probably the best forum to post this in....
It smells like a clutch is burning sometimes when I get out of the car. I was just going to hit a junk yard and throw on a different tranny, I just wanted any opinions if it was something besides the tranny maybe. Thanks!

Hows the fluid level? When was the last time you changed it? I'd start there, cheapest option
How is the thermostat? If the engine is running too cool, the ECU will not shift into high gear.
fluid is fine, engine running at appropriate temperature. I thought about all that first...just figured at this point the car has 110,000 miles on it and it was probably the tranny...
