New here from SD
Well i'm new to the site and pretty new to the honda scene as well. Just purchased my first honda, a 1998 Civic EX which im extremely satisfied with. Bought it from some old farmer not to long ago after he had just replaced the motor with only like 11,000 miles for only 4000 not bad..... still the same as when i bought it pretty much....catback exhaust (magnaflow) intake (injen) aem tru time cam. all ive done so far is some DIY black housing headlights which turned out pretty good...just wondering if you guys had any ideas where i should start performance wise....pretty short on cash right now and the next thing i plan on is wheels...thinkin about doin white hx wheels with a red honda logo in the middle (JDM i know) haha well thats all for now...just saying hello from good ol south dakota
sorry for the shitty pics....all i have is cell phone pics right now

well i know that much....that stuff was already done to the car when i got it...im saying what is there that i can do to make it go faster...like i said im kinda new in the honda scene...really dont know much about d-series especially...plan on building it for boost when money isnt such an issue anymore.... but thanks anyways
boost d series is always a good choice. build stronger internal parts. and then boost it. or do a engine swaps. b series. h series, or k series.

welcome, thats a pretty good buy i'd say,it looks clean. put the money in the right areas with a good turbo setup, should be quick enough for most anyone in the dakotas. i hate sd cops though, every time i drive someplace down there, i always get harrassed.
be a different story if you were driving in a jacked up chevy though. good to see you around

First thing first....It's a D-series....so....I'd say turbo that healthy engine, and get a good suspention on there that is going to fit the type of driving you will be doing.

"boost = d-series" "boost = d-series".. .. .. ...
These people have no imagination. Clearly you're not shooting for 500+ hp, right? You're not replacing your tranny with a spool, right? You said you want to beat B16s and hicks in their tractors. Piece of cake.
First of all, DON'T BOOST YOUR D-SERIES. Turbos can be great if they're done right. They have more power potential than your wallet and your driving skills combined. To do it right isn't easy or cheap. So what you end up with is a boosted motor that was stock n/a, so the breather system is no longer functional, you have all these added parts squeezed under your hood, each of them just another complex part that can fail. You have this intercooler in front of your radiator so everyone can see what you're up to. Then you're going to have a chipped ECU badly tuned probably with some chip you bought over the internet. One big frustrating mess. You'll find yourself selling the car for pennies on the dollar so you can start over fresh. Everyone here has done it how many times?!
Do this instead: Get yourself a cam, a header, and a cold air intake. Drive it hard and work out some teenage angst. Live out some fast and furious fantasies. Then when you've but some wear into that block, rebuild it with some high compression pistons. Get an aftermarket intake manifold. Buy someone's used EMS and get it dyno tuned. Under your hood will be nice and clean. Your car will be nice and reliable. You'll be right at the level of a mildly modified B series; oftentimes you'll have the advantage. It will be somewhat of a sleeper, which is so much more fun than being lumped in with the ricers. I never get tired of playing stupid and doing some harmless hustling. And yeah, you'll lose the race sometimes but that's part of the fun. How much fun is a project with constant problems that is always exceeding your budget?
Everyone else is shooting for the most power they can afford. And a lot of times they run out of brains before they run out of money. Ask yourself, do you want the fastest car, or do you want the funnest car.
