Default 99 honda civic tranny problems

My automatic 99 honda civic goes into neutral and won't come out of neutral while driving. The shifter is still in drive when it acts up. When u first start the car it will drive normal for about 10 seconds then stops moving in all gears. Sometimes transmission makes whinning sound..If anyone knows what could possibly be wrong or has had this problem, please tell me how to fix it!!! Thanks

Wow that sounds pretty bad...honestly what i'd do is to call the honda service dept and ask them unless someone posts an answer. If I have a problem and I or a friend can't fix it that's where I take mine. You might even have them run a diagnostic on it, it only costs $75 but at least you'll know it's accurate.

yea..my husband said it might be some solenoid or a sensor...something like that. Its just kinda crazy that it was doing fine and all of the sudden it starts acting up!

check your oil, if its very dirty its most likely burnt clutch packs... If it was a solenoid sticking you would have noticed delayed and harsh shifts before it stopped moving.
