oh god. This will turn into another turbo D vs. NA B vs. Turbo B vs. H22 argument.

It's gonna be a bloodbath.

I will say this: The BEST possible mod for a D series is a B series swap.

Theres no point to spend the same amount to swap a B16 (which is my least favorite B series other than the B20) when you could have a turbo D instead. Rather than making 220-240whp with the D, you'd rather have 145whp with the B16? To me, that just doesn't make sense.

A stock B16A would be more reliable than the boosted D. The 220whp version of a D series may be pseudo reliable....but not OEM reliable.

If you're drag racing as your only form of motorsports, the turbo D would be great.

b16a sucks ***, not enough torque. if ur seriously thinking about swapping a b-series, make it worth it, go type r or gsr.

A d-series motor is also extremely cheap to replace. A b-series motor -- not so much.

Id boost the D. If you already built it for boost then boost it. Thats like renovating a car and leaving the seats out. Finish it off with that turbo. The hp will be way more than the n/a B16. The B16 has very low torque too, and thats no fun.

I agree -- I've went against Mitusbishi 3000GT's, civic hatchs with b16s in them, a boosted eg coupe @ 7psi, an accord with a JDM h22 swap with the I/H/E bolt-ons, and a dodge srt-4.. Only car I lost to is the dodge srt-4 and it wasn't by much.. He was just slowly creeping by me.

3000GT's are SLUGS, a EJ, not an EG Coupe and you didn't say what motor it had, Accords are fat pigs, and SRT-4's are nasty with very little mods *Ala you lost*

And a key point in your statement is that you left out WHAT ALL IS DONE TO YOUR D16 aside from its turbo assuming that is what you drive *Let alone what kind of D16 it is*

i dont think it matters alls that matters is that those cars got spanked by the "supposed"underdog SOHC aside from the SRT 4

Turbo D.

I was debating with the same thing then I finally just said "F it. I'm going to college in the fall and don't feel like sinking all my time and money in a B16 swap. Turbo what I have for cheaper and make more power. End of story!"

I think you should do the same

My Turbo D16Z6 beat my friends 89 hatch with B16 and S2 S2 cams, but it blew up cause D16 are beat stock and my tune was ***, when you say built for boost what do you mean.

Also my friend was running a Turbo b16 in his rex with 500 whp daily no problems.

Now i have an LS with GSR trans and that is a comfy setup, t-minus 6 months till boost on that

you never made mention of 'spanking' any of them, you said you 'beat' them.

which still means nothing, Driver mod > motor swap.
